Syma Shulman Levine is a CLMC partner. Ms. Levine enjoys substantial expertise in healthcare transactional and regulatory work, employment law, and general corporate matters. Representing a broad client base, she enjoys significant experience in negotiating complex deals and drafting sophisticated legal documents, as well as in commercial litigation. Ms. Levine has also served as a neutral mediator in the healthcare and employment arenas.

Working with healthcare providers ranging from individual physicians and their practice groups to ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals, Ms. Levine regularly negotiates and prepares agreements in connection with practice development, acquisitions, and dissolutions. Ms. Levine prepares her clients for the challenges of the ever-changing landscape of practicing medicine, dentistry and the full range of allied health fields. Ms. Levine focuses her regulatory work on counseling clients to assure compliance with the vast set of regulations affecting the healthcare industry, including Federal and State Stark and Anti-Kickback Laws and has assisted clients in matters involving Medicaid and private payor audits and OPMC and licensing issues.

For a vast array of privately held businesses, Ms. Levine is often involved in employment matters such as hiring, executive compensation and severance packages; negotiation of restrictive covenants; discipline, terminations, and benefits; policy statements and employment and compliance manuals; and counseling and training of management and staff. Representing multi-national clients doing business in Israel, Ms. Levine also served as special counsel in Labor and Employment Law to the Herzog, Fox, Neeman Law Offices in Tel Aviv, Israel.

On the corporate side, Ms. Levine’s provides day-to-day and deal-related legal advice to her clients. Her experience also includes litigation, arbitration and mediation. Utilizing the talents of her partners with various legal specialties, Ms. Levine is able to provide the full range of legal services to her clients.

Ms. Levine’s writings include: “Electronic Records and Signatures for the Health Care Provider, Legal Manual for New York Physicians (Fourth Edition 2014); “Anthology of the Law Relating to Electronic Records and Signatures for the Early Intervention Program - New York State 2009,” Legal Manual for New York Physicians, (Third Edition 2011); “Hospital Outsourcing Continues to Expand,” Hospital and Healthcare Newsletter (March 2004); “Toward Competent Counsel,” 13 Rutgers Law Journal, No.2, 227-284 (1982); and “A Theoretical Analysis of the Effects of Affirmative Action on Self-Concept and Personal Expectations,” Barnard Journal of Psychology (Spring 1978).

Ms. Levine is admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bars and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Ms. Levine is a member of the American Bar Association and the Nassau County Jewish Lawyers Association. Ms. Levine enjoys meeting clients in the firm’s Long Island and New York City offices.
